The Retro Luxe Museum collection preserves more than 500 museum-quality garments, representing more than six decades of fashion history, spanning from the 1930s through the 1990s. Every piece has been carefully selected not only for its beauty, but for its historical significance, exceptional craftsmanship, designer provenance, and cultural importance.
The museum is home to one of America’s most significant collections of Victor Costa, alongside rare works by Murray Arbeid, couturier to Diana, Princess of Wales, as well as creations by Christian Dior, Valentino, Givenchy, Hardy Amies, Norman Hartnell, Betsey Johnson, Laura Ashley, Gunne Sax, Bill Levkoff, AJ Bari, Karen Okada, and many other distinguished designers whose work helped define twentieth-century fashion.
The collection includes garments created by designers whose work was worn by First Ladies of the United States, members of the British Royal Family, Hollywood stars, internationally renowned entertainers, television personalities, and cultural icons. Their creations represent some of the finest achievements in fashion history and continue to inspire designers, historians, collectors, and museums around the world.
