About the Museum
The first museum of vintage fashion history.
Retro Luxe Museum Company is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural institution and the first museum in history dedicated exclusively to vintage fashion as museum-grade cultural heritage.
The museum holds one of the largest and most significant collections of designer vintage gowns in the United States, recognized as the #1 collection of its kind nationwide by volume and historical scope. The collection includes over 500 museum-quality designer garments, spanning the 1940s through the 1990s, preserved as historical artifacts rather than costume or trend.
Retro Luxe Museum Company is an active member of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and operates according to professional museum standards, including preservation, documentation, research, and public education. Our mission is to safeguard fashion history as a legitimate and essential part of American and global cultural heritage.
The museum presents its collection through curated exhibitions, public showcases, runway-based historical interpretation, and educational programming. Each garment is contextualized within its era, reflecting the social, artistic, and cultural forces that shaped its creation and influence.
Retro Luxe Museum Company exists to ensure that vintage fashion is preserved not as nostalgia, but as historical evidence, artistic achievement, and cultural memory — accessible to the public, scholars, and future generations.
This is not a private collection.
This is not a fashion archive.
This is a museum — preserving the legacy of fashion history at a national level.
